Meet Dusty Folwarczny
Dusty is an artist at heart. She is an abstract steel sculptor and she co-founded Ink Factory, a Chicago based visual note-taking studio in 2011. Their mission is to create visual experiences that inspire and engage. She loves being part of her community, creating jobs for artists, and helping where and when she can.

Q + A

If you had to change careers what would you want to do?
I'd definitely be a farmer living off the land Swiss Family Robinson style with all the off grid things. I'd have a farm stand with an honor system and maybe a box of the week type subscriptions. You could barter time for food. And I'd grow beautiful flowers that would make people smile and feel special. I'd also have a few goats. I'd be happy to share what I know with others and teach people rely on themselves for some of their food.

What do you geek out about?
I love tools! I love being outdoors, grocery shopping, cooking, rust, yoga, urban farming, chickens, hosting supper clubs, sailing, spices, bees, old things, painting, ceramics, preserving, scavenging, and working on my old home.

What is the world missing?
Bartering, repurposing, and teleporting.

Where do you go for inspiration?
Mother Nature! She's got it going on. The colors, textures, creatures, and sounds are the muses of so many artists.

I also love looking at how really big things are made – like huge buildings, boats, and bridges I also like looking at how those things have aged. I'm also really inspired by people that have had experiences I haven't. I love to learn from them (well, not all of them, but the ones I'm inspired by, haha).

When do you feel most at peace?
In nature in general. Especially at sunset in a forest, mountain, or beach. Bonus points if I am also in a bathtub or hottub!

What do you do when you feel stuck?
Eat. Take a walk. Ask people I respect for help.
