Q+A
What scares you?
Now that I have a kid, everything scares me! I used to be so tough. The downside to parenthood is that it turns you into a nervous wreck.
Whose undies would you run up a flagpole?
So hard to choose. I would probably take the undies of Wall Street bankers, Congress, Glenn Beck, Rick Perry, and Fox News pundits, sew them into a giant flag of shame and run that up the pole. I do like humiliating assholes and I can sew!
What do you hate?
Nazis…of course. Or anything that’s related to Nazism, whether it be white nationalism, organized racism, nativism, and so on. Like most people, I pretty vehemently despise anything that violently targets the people and communities I care about. I’ve had strange encounters with bigots, so a big part of my life is devoted to eradicating these things.
If you had to change careers what would you want to do?
Kindergarten teacher. Five-year-olds are the best.
What do you think about when you are alone?
Baking bread and gardening. I think it’s important to eat properly baked bread and stay connected to nature. I don’t do either. But I think about them a whole lot.
